As we celebrate the 116th Anniversary of our Mother Cathedral in 2011, it is important that we know our history and where we came from. Cathedral Fellowship wants you to "Dance Through the Decades"

The Cathedral Fellowship of St. John the Divine will have a Pre-Lenten Dance on Saturday, February 25th with the theme, "Dance through the Decades with a Middle East Twist." The cost is $40.00 for adults and $20.00 for children 12 and under. We are proud to bring a local band, "Love Funk" with a member from our own block to play music from various decades with a special concentration on 70's and 80's funk music. D.J. Adam will spin Arabic music between sets as well as music from other decades. Mazza will be served along with wine. Hamelat El-Teeb Trip to Sight and Sounds on May 5, 2012

The Hamelat El-Teeb is sponsoring a trip to Sight and Sounds in Lancaster, PA to see the play based on the story of Jonah from the Bible. The cost is $140.00 a person and the number of people who can attend is limited to the size of the bus, around 50 people. This is their third or fourth trip to Sight and Sound and it is always a sell-out. The price includes a ticket to the show, transportation on the bus and lunch at a local restaurant. 2011-2012 Orthodox Lecture Series

Beginning last November, the Antiochian and Greek Orthodox parishes of Brooklyn have begun holding their annual monthly lecture series. The lectures are held on a Thursday night once a month. Each month's lecture will be delivered by a different presenter. The overall theme for the lectures is: "The Emmaus Journey: St. Paul's first letter to the (Brooklynites) Corinthians as a guide for the Church today" The fourth lecture will take place on Thursday, February 9th at Dormition (Kimisis tis Theotokou) Greek Orthodox Church, 224 18th Street (near 5th Ave.) at 7:00. The topic is "Marriage, Virginity and Freedom." Archpriest Michael Ellias is the February speaker. . Click here for the flyer and church addresses.
